Tony Anderson, a recent graduate of Morehouse College, is a protégé of Van Jones and a Fellow with the Compton Foundation. As a recipient of the Fellowship, Tony received a stipend so that he could focus on work with Majora Carter, Van Jones and Nia Robinson to help guide him in his urban ecology research: finding opportunities to align misplaced incentives of sustainable investment among landlords and redirection of these financial considerations to the tenets who are typically of modest means.

While Student Body Vice President at Morehouse, Tony initiated a campus level dialogue about sustainability and climate change by championing the work of environmental justice. As a result of this experience, Tony co-founded the Let's Raise A Million Project (LRAM). Let's Raise a Million Project is a student-led, nonprofit charitable and environmental justice- focused organization committed to introducing energy saving solutions to low-income households to promote healthier living practices as well as reduce the burden of high energy bills. The project conducts complete energy efficient light bulb retrofits and energy audits, FREE OF CHARGE for residents of modest means. The goal is to exchange 1,000,000 "clean bulbs" within four years following the ongoing pilot phase, currently operational at Morehouse in Atlanta, GA and at Grambling in Louisiana. LRAM’s student volunteers go into homes and install the bulbs as well as educate participants on


Marcus Penny , a native Californian, is currently studying Psychology at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Recently Marcus has become active with several different local, national, and international initiatives involving the promotion of sustainable living and environmental justice. These initiatives have helped to lay the foundation upon which the two organizations he helped to found Students For Enlightened Environmental Decisions (SEeED) and The Let’s Raise a Million Project are built. Along side a strong team of students and recent graduates, Marcus plans on rising awareness on environmental justice issues and how they affect underrepresented communities.


Richard D. Merritt, is a senior, International Studies major at Morehouse College located in Atlanta, GA. As a student leader, Richard has initiated several sustainable programs with a focused on strengthening the student/administrative relationship.

As the current Co- Director of Morehouse College's environmental group SEeED or Students Endeavoring for Enlightened Environmental Decisions and a member of the Morehouse College Sustainability Committee Richard's primary work focuses on running the college's Presidential Climate Commitment and Campus Climate Challenge working groups. In addition, Richard focuses on strengthening the Metro Atlanta Students for Sustainability and Georgia Students for Sustainability organizations.

Outside of the campus work Richard serves on the Southern Energy Networks Steering Committee; and is a youth representative for United Nations Environmental Program's Kick the Carbon Habit Campaign. This campaign recognizes education as a key part of understanding and mitigating climate change. This campaign will help empower and educate youth and the general public on ways to conserve resources. In collaboration with UNEP, representatives of the youth network will play an active role in spreading this educational effort around the country
